Rockdale County asks citizens to sign up for CodeRED

CONYERS, Ga. –- Throughout the month of April, Rockdale County encourages citizens to sign up for CodeRED, the county’s high-speed notification system that delivers time-sensitive messages via voice, email, and text to targeted areas or the entire County during emergency situations or disasters. The awareness campaign coincides with the theme for National County Government Month (NCGM), Ready and Resilient Counties: Prepare. Respond. Thrive.

“Severe weather and emergency situations can hit Rockdale at any time,” Rockdale Fire Chief and Emergency Management Director Dan Morgan said. “In observance of the NCGM theme, now is a fitting time for anyone who lives or works in Rockdale County to sign up for CodeRED weather alerts and emergency notifications.”

The CodeRED campaign follows the conclusion of the Conyers-Rockdale PrepareAthon initiative in March, which brought together local government and public safety partners to provide emergency preparedness education and outreach to local businesses and citizens.

To sign up for CodeRED, visit www.rockdalecounty.org and click on the CodeRED icon. Required sign up information includes; first and last name, street address (physical address, no P.O. boxes), city, state, zip code, and primary phone number. Additional phone numbers can be entered as well.

The County also encourages citizens to sign up for CodeRED via links posted during April on the County’s social media pages: www.twitter.com/RockdaleGov and www.facebook.com/RockdaleGov.
