CONYERS, Ga. – Volunteers with a vested interested in making Conyers-Rockdale a cleaner, greener and more thriving community beautified locals parks, schools, neighborhoods, roadways and waterways through their participation in the Great American Cleanup.

Keep-Conyers Rockdale Beautiful (KCRB) hosted the half-day event on May 3 at Pine Log Park in Conyers. More than 190 volunteers from local schools, church groups, civic organizations, scout troops, small families, and individuals donated their time to pick up garbage, tires and other debris around the community, which emphasizes the importance of litter prevention and recycling as much of the materials collected as possible.

As a thank you, volunteers received a Great American Cleanup t-shirt and a free BBQ lunch that Rockdale Water Resources and ESG Operations donated.

The cleanup removed 15.29 tons of garbage and 80 tires, and covered several locations across the county.

Through public-private partnerships and strategic alliances with citizens, businesses and government, KCRB's efforts each year motivate hundreds of volunteers to clean up and improve Rockdale County, thereby creating safer, more livable environments.
