CONYERS, Ga. – Rockdale County invites the public to stay out of the rain and share in the spirit of the holidays at its annual Tree Lighting Celebration on Sat., Dec.7 now at an indoor location.

Due to the anticipation of inclement weather Dec. 7, the 2013 Tree Lighting Celebration will move into the Rockdale County Auditorium, 903 Main Street, Conyers. The program will still start immediately after the Hometown Holiday parade between 6 p.m. – 6:30 p.m.

This year’s Tree Lighting theme, “Lights, Camera, Action, Christmas!,” will feature performances by local choirs and dance groups, and a special appearance by Santa and Mrs. Claus, who will light a beautifully decorated Christmas tree on stage in front of the audience. There will still be lights on the large outdoor tree for citizens to enjoy through the holiday season.

The Rockdale County Fraternal Order of Firefighters will be on site outside the Auditorium selling snack items such as pizza, popcorn, and hot chocolate. Proceeds will help financially-struggling families with holiday needs.

Event sponsors include Brasstown Valley Resort & Spa, The Home Depot, Kroger, Lowes, Premier Platforms, Inc., and The Punchline Comedy Club. The County encourages citizens of all ages to attend this free, public event.
