Two gunmen smash into store and rob clerk

CONYERS, Ga -- Police are searching for two suspects who broke through a glass door to rob a store clerk at gunpoint. The suspects used a rock to smash the glass then crawled in through the door.

Saiful Alam was closing the Chevron store at 1135 Sigman Road when the two suspects came in. "I closed the door and I turned off the light," he said. "I was about to do the final drop and final report and I was about to head home."

Alam is a recent graduate of Kennesaw State University where he majored in Criminal Justice. He said he is working three jobs because he wants to go to law school to become a prosecutor. He said the robbery hasn't changed his mind.

He said the two men were armed and pointed the guns at him as soon as the broke into the store. "That was the first time I ever had a gun pointed at me," he said. "Actually, it was the first time I had two guns pointed at me."

Alam said he remembered what one of his criminal justice professors told him. "Don't be a hero, think things through, eventually they'll make mistakes to help track them down," he said he was told. "They didn't have gloves so police dusted for fingerprints.

The robbery at the Chevron was captured on the stores video surveillance cameras. Conyers police are asking anyone with knowledge of the crime to call Crime Stoppers at 404-577-TIPS (8477).
