CONYERS, Ga. – Keep Conyers-Rockdale Beautiful (KCRB) celebrates its Recycling Month in September with an Electronics Recycling and Paper Shredding event, Saturday, Sept. 13 from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m., in the parking lot of the Rockdale County Government Annex, 1400 Parker Road, Conyers, 30094.

The FREE, half-day event will provide the public a place to safely discard and recycle old documents and electronics, regardless of working condition. There is a maximum of 4 banker boxes per businesses for paper shredding. Professional electronics recycling and paper shredding companies will securely handle all items on site under the close supervision of government staff. People will simply need to pull up to drop off items that volunteers will unload.

Cash fees will apply to certain items for electronics recycling, including $10 each for plastic TVs; $5 each for plastic monitors; and $30 each for plasma, projection, wooden console TVs, or TVs with exposed, bare tubes. All other electronics are free to recycle.

The following is a list of items accepted/not accepted at the event.

·         Mouse/mice

·         PC monitors

·         Laptops

·         Printers

·         Fax machines

·         Desktop copiers

·         Phone systems

·         Typewriters

·         Test equipment

·         Networking equipment

·         Modems

·         UPS batteries

·         Scanners

·         Wire/cabling

·         Floppy drives

·         Disk drives

·         Microwaves

·         Plastic TVs ($10 each)

·         CRT monitors ($5 each)

·         Plasma, projection, wooden console TVs, or TVs with exposed bare tubes ($30 each)

 

ITEMS NOT ACCEPTED:

 

Paper Shredding

  • Papers containing foreign objects such as paper clips or staples
  • Photographs

 

Electronics Recycling

·         Air conditioners

·         Bare, lead-based glass tubes

·         Large household appliances

·         Smoke detectors

·         Exit signs (items with fluorescent tubes)

·         Liquids of any kind

·         Light bulbs

·         Fluorescent tubes

·         Devices containing Mercury

·         Devices containing Freon
