Keep Conyers-Rockdale Beautiful receives national and state recognition

CONYERS, Ga. -- Rockdale County government today announced that Keep Conyers-Rockdale Beautiful (KCRB) is the recipient for of two national and state awards for its unwavering efforts in making the community cleaner, greener and more thriving.

For the third year, Keep America Beautiful (KAB) awarded to KCRB its President’s Circle Award. KAB presented the award last month to qualifying affiliates during its 2015 awards dinner in Washington, D.C. Regionally, Gov. Nathan Deal and the Keep Georgia Beautiful Foundation (KGB) presented to local KAB affiliates for the second year the Governor’s Circle Award last month during KGB Day at the Capitol.

The President’s Circle Award recognizes exemplary performance made by certified affiliates of the national nonprofit in building and sustaining vibrant communities. In qualifying for a President’s Circle Award, KCRB met KAB’s standards of merit by conducting an annual Community Appearance Index, calculating the affiliate’s cost/benefit ratio, and administering activities in the areas of litter prevention, recycling and waste reduction, and beautification and community greening.

The Governor’s Circle Award recognizes exemplary performance made by certified affiliates of the state nonprofit to reduce litter, minimize waste, and beautify and improve their local communities. In qualifying for a Governor’s Circle Award, KCRB met Keep Georgia Beautiful’s standards of excellence by conducting an annual Litter Index, calculating the affiliate’s cost/benefit ratio, and engaging volunteers to take greater responsibility for their community environment. In addition, award recipients must conduct activities in three core focus areas of litter prevention, waste reduction and beautification/community improvement.

Each year, KCRB continues to enhance the health, safety and economic viability of Conyers and Rockdale County by empowering hundreds of local volunteers to take greater responsibility for litter prevention and cleanup, recycling, waste minimization and all forms of beautification and community improvement.
