Pepper spray bandits use an axe to rob another store | News
MCDONOUGH, Ga -- A robbing crew known as the "Pepper Spray Bandits" is now being looked at in connection with two robberies in Henry County. The bandits have already robbed two convenience stores in Rockdale County using a machete and pepper spraying the clerks.

In Henry County two robberies, less than six hours apart on December 26, 2013 may be the same suspects. They sprayed a clerk in one robbery and used an axe to rob the other.
"You'll see occasionally knives, but mostly it's handguns (in robberies)," said Henry County Police Sgt. Joey Smith. "Pepper spray and a small axe, it's very unusual."
At about 2-AM the morning after Christmas two suspects stormed into the Marathon convenience store on Highway 42 at Jodeco Road in McDonough. One of the suspects was wielding an axe.
Store owner Nadeem Sheikh said the suspects got money out of a cash register but weren't satisfied. "They were looking for some more, they wanted him (clerk) to open the safe and he doesn't have any keys," Sheikh said.
Even though the clerk cooperated, in frustration, one of the suspects slugged the clerk in the face, knocking two teeth loose. Sheikh said he tells his employees to always do what the suspects ask. "Money you can replace but the lives you cannot so I just want the safety of my employees," he said.
Their violence is what scares police about the suspects. That's why Henry County Police and the Rockdale County Sheriff Office are pooling their investigations. They believe the same suspects are responsible for two robberies in each county. "They're very close together in date and time and in location," Sgt. Smith said. "The Rockdale robberies are right on the line with Henry."
Sgt. Smith said police need the public's help and are pushing anyone with tips to call Crime Stoppers Atlanta at 404-577-TIPS (8477).
