CONYERS, Ga. -- Authorities in southwestern Illinois are investigating the death of a Georgia man who suffered multiple stab wounds to his neck.

St. Clair County Coroner Rick Stone says 28-year-old Melvin Gregory of Conyers, Ga. was found dead Tuesday.

Horseback riders found Gregory's body along a levee near the village of Cahokia.

The case is being investigated by the multi-jurisdictional Major Case Squad of Greater St. Louis. The squad's deputy commander says they've investigated numerous leads but no charges have been filed.
