BEST SPOTS: Inexpensive Dates

BEST SPOTS: Inexpensive Dates

EAST METRO – For this week’s installment of Best Spots, we’re compiling a list of Inexpensive Date Spots for you to take your special someone.

In today’s economy, it’s important to find companionship which, in our opinion, is the cheapest form of entertainment. However, it’s the springtime, and people like to get out every now and then. So, check out these suggestions for fun under $15.

If your date loves indie music, take them to famous live music venue and rooftop grill, Eddie’s Attic. This venue is home to acts like Sugarland and John Mayer. For about $15, you and your date can enjoy a live show and plate of famous attic beignets. To view a full show schedule and purchase tickets visit Eddie’s at 515-B N.

Students participate in an adapted softball tourney at Miracle League Field

Students participate in an adapted softball tourney at Miracle League Field

CONYERS, Ga. – (Rockdale Citizen) Rockdale County Public Schools held its first softball tournament for special needs students at the Miracle League Field on South Main Street last week.

Ambers Sims, the adapted physical education coach for Rockdale County Public Schools (RCPS) secured a grant from Snapping Shoals EMC which allowed her to purchase equipment for special needs children who need it. Students are able to use “special bats with larger grip areas and oversized mitts that allowed the balls to stick to them.”

The Miracle League didn’t charge RCPS to use its facility for the week, and RCPS shuttled children to and from the event. The event had many supporters and was an overall success.

Rockdale Trail Blazers Hold Their Annual Wellness Clinic and Vet Day

Rockdale Trail Blazers Hold Their Annual Wellness Clinic and Vet Day

CONYERS – The Rockdale Trail Blazers will be holding their Wellness Clinic and Vet Day on Saturday, February 19th starting at 2:00 p.m. This event will be held at the International Horse Park in the Blue Parking Lot. During the clinic, equine owners will have the opportunity to receive routine vaccinations and testing for their animals, at a fraction of the original price.

As opposed to paying a veterinarian about $50 to come out and vaccinate their animals, equestrians are encouraged to bring their animals to the horse park, for treatment. Vets will be drawing blood for the Coggins Test and vaccinating horses for West Nile Virus and a number of other ailments.

The Rockdale Trail Blazers have been hosting their Wellness Clinic and Vet Day for about four years and they plan on expanding to hold it twice, annually. Tomorrow, the Trail Blazers will meet at the Veterans of Foreign Wars Center at 6:00 p.m.
